William Vale Wedding
When I'm photographing weddings in Manhattan, I can frequently look over to the East and see the facade of the William Vale Hotel reflecting the sun from Williamsburg in Brooklyn. This wedding was pure joy paired with vibrant, beautifully thought out details making an amazing experience for the guests. My mission here was to capture the sensibilities of the couple along with the grandeur and impressiveness of the space while still keeping it real and personal.
Fit & Finish
When I photograph a wedding, I want to capture the day as naturally as possible while still infusing a certain polish that gives the images that refined, crafted look. This can mean approaching each scene as an architectural photographer might – creating a composition that is satisfyingly clean and balanced.
On occasion, couples may wonder why we’d want to dedicate coverage to “makeup” when there is so much more of the day to capture. Who did you ask to be with you in those final moments before your first look or walk down the aisle? Before the wedding really gets going, this is your opportunity for one-on-one time with some of your favorite people on earth.
Bringing You Back
My hope is that when you go back through your photos, you see not just how amazing you looked but how amazing you felt. After the wedding, you’ll be wrapped up in the most wonderful of blurs. And then, your photos come in and you’ll receive so many visual triggers that will bring you back to all the small things that touched you throughout the day.
On Top of the City
Documenting a wedding 30 some flights above the East River overlooking Manhattan is so exciting. The light is so dynamic and there are moments and opportunities everywhere I look. When I’m photographing any wedding ceremony, I’m of course making sure to be unobtrusive while still looking for all the glances, smiles, tears and everything else that comes with this charged moment.
Great Location. Great Light.
The secret to capturing fantastic portraits on the wedding day quickly is the magic recipe of great light and fantastic location. With these two elements, we can knock out your photos in less time than you might think.
A Stunning Ballroom
After descending from the roof of The William Vale, guests were led in to another world altogether. I love decor that transports everyone to another place where you forget where you are and can wrap yourself up in the fun of being amongst so many thrilled, happy people. The more elaborate the setup, the less time we tend to have to photograph it, but this time to create some still lifes of the reception details is one of my favorites to clear the mind and prepare for capturing the party.
