Housing works Bookstore Wedding: New York, NY
This off the cuff New York City wedding was held at Housing Works Bookstore in SoHo. It rained and it poured and that was just fine.
My first wedding at Housingworks was many years (decade+) ago and I’ve always loved the vibe of the place. For a long while the bookstore was my go to spot for meetings. It was particularly fun to return here with a couple that was entirely focused on having a good time. With me dragging all my stuff and the bride in heels, we walked through pouring rain to a local dive by the name of 169 Bar to hang out for a few photos before kicking off the celebration. This type of day is what makes me grin when people ask what my favorite kind of wedding is because what I truly enjoy is the extreme variety I get to see here in NYC. The day before I was arranging a cathedral length veil for altar photos. It takes a totally different mindset and approach and being a bit of a photographic chameleon is right up my alley.
Houston Hall Wedding : Kate & Andrew : New York, NY
Kate & Andrew were married June 9 at Houston Hall in the SoHo of New York City. Fun couples, great details, and an amazing location make photographing weddings a breeze and this was no exception. Down to the last detail, Kate & Andrew's wedding dreams came alive along with the help of Daniela from Vision Event Co who made everything run smoothly behind the scenes. As a former FBI vehicle maintenance shop turned beer hall, Houston Hall is a pretty amazing space with tons of exposed brick, high ceilings and a really cool vibe throughout. The Dominick Hotel located just a few blocks away provided a nice style counterpoint to the urban warehouse feel of the wedding and we made use of the exterior for some portraits. A first look before the ceremony got all of the formal shots out of the way so the bride and groom could stay fully wrapped up in their wedding experience the rest of the evening.
Lafayette Grand Cafe Wedding : Jen & Eugene : New York, NY
Jen & Eugene were married March 31, 2018 at Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery in the NoHo neighborhood of New York City. When I met with Jen & Eugene for the first time, they asked me if I'd ever been to Lafayette. "Yes" I said. I had my own wedding reception there two years ago! I began with them at 11 Howard, a beautiful new hotel in SoHo where we jumped right in to a first look and portraits. We were fortunate that the hotel made their bar and common areas available to us. The clean, modern look was a great contrast to the outdoor and French wine cellar feel of the reception venue. Jen's gorgeous bouquet was created by Designs by Ahn. Walking outside, the light was bouncing around through the narrow streets which made for beautiful opportunities. The ambiance at Lafayette is so warm and intimate. For a moment, it whisks you away from New York as you settle in with a hand crafted cocktail or glass of Burgundy. The smell of Andrew Carmellini's cuisine comes wafting from the kitchen as serving plates are set down for guests family style. It's the perfect location for a wedding of 70 guests. Documenting someone's day in a space as special to me as Lafayette is so satisfying, and I am grateful to Jen & Eugene for including me as part of their wedding celebration.
