Oheka Castle Wedding : Adriana & Mitchell : New York, NY
A wedding at Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island is one I'm always looking forward to as it is a a magnificent place to photograph in. Adriana & Mitchell must have gathered a lot of good luck for their wedding because it rained all day but that didn't stifle anyone's spirits.

Roundhouse Beacon Wedding : Julia & Scott : Beacon, NY
Where were you on New Year's Eve? I was up in the Hudson Valley at the gorgeous Roundhouse Beacon for Julia & Scott's end of 2018 celebration. It was an amazing event. As I began photographing getting ready, the rain began to fall. (One can imagine snow being a factor at a December wedding upstate, not rain!) But that's ok, the Roundhouse is rich with opportunities for photography and the time soon sped by as we made our way through their portrait session. The striking entrance to the ballroom was put on display as guests made their way for the ceremony under the beautiful chuppah. Viridescent Floral Design did an amazing job throughout and when my wife walked by the computer as I was editing a pic of the chuppah, she's like... "that's a nice chuppah". Indeed. Between a great couple, the decor and Julia's Oscar de la Renta wedding gown, the pictures took themselves. I quickly recognized the folks from Marcus Reid Band at Hank Lane and knew they'd keep the party alive well past the stroke of midnight. This was absolutely the case as the dance floor quickly exploded with Julia & Scott's family and friends. The last few clicks of the shutter at the end of the year always feel profound at the end of a long season. 45 weddings this year! It was exciting to share that moment in Beacon.
The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers : Jen & John : New York, NY
Jen & John were married November 3rd with their wedding ceremony and reception at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. I've been shooting at The Lighthouse for a long time. One of the things that I've noticed about this space is how each couple really puts a different stamp on the space. I've seen classic decor, modern multicolored projected wall wonderlands, and everything in between. I love the balance Jen & John struck with the clean floral design which contrasts the dark space. Jen got ready in a suite at INNSIDE by Meliá New York NoMad which had an amazing patio. It was .. so so cold that day but she braved the weather and ventured out for a few photos. Meanwhile, John got ready with his friends at the venue. Jen and I made our way over in an Uber for a first look in the space. We had plans to venture out into the neighborhood but the wind was insane! All is good, we made use of the dynamic light inside The Lighthouse.Enjoy!
Guastavino's Wedding : Jaime & Matt : New York, NY
Guastavino's is one of those iconic New York City wedding venues that is instantly recognizable. The massive vaulted ceilings are visible from the street and provide a majestic setting for a wedding. Jaime & Matt worked to create a number of lighting situations to bring a different ambiance to each element of the evening. You'll get a sense of that as you browse through their day. We started with getting ready photos at the InterContinental New York Barclay hotel which is both gorgeous and conveniently located for a number of the noted NYC event venues and picturesque spots for portraits. On the corner of 42nd St & 5th Ave is the New York Public Library whose design echoes some of the architectural language of Guastavino's making it a perfect choice for a few pictures before heading over to the venue.A gorgeous ceremony soon was underway and I loved the chance to document their day in this amazing space.

Bacchus Wedding : Kate & Kevin : Brooklyn, NY
People ask me all the time what kind of wedding is my favorite to shoot. I truly enjoy things about all types of weddings, but the thing that really gets me about intimate restaurant weddings is the extra nudge of spontaneity and going with the flow. If the guests are assembled and waiting at the ceremony while we go overtime on portraits, they can wait! Loving the vibe of cocktail hour? Perfect, they'll keep pouring. It was this spirit that made Kate & Kevin's wedding at Bacchus the relaxed dinner party style affair that I just love. Kate got ready at the nearby Nu Hotel before we met at Brooklyn Bridge Park for a first look and some family photos. Accompanied by my favorite form of wedding day transportation: a 1960s era checkered cab from Film Cars/New York Checker, we made our way through some iconic old world Brooklyn streets before dropping the bride and groom off for their ceremony with guests awaiting.
