Temple Emanu-El Wedding : Venue Spotlight : Closter, NJ
Temple Emanu-El of Closter located in the Northern Valley of Bergen County, NJ is a beautiful setting for a Jewish wedding. Located just 15 minutes from Manhattan's George Washington Bridge, its central location makes it an easy destination for guests all around the Tri-State. With a lovely bridal suite, sanctuary and reception hall on site, there's no reason to leave the grounds keeping those wedding day logistics to a minimum. Tucked back in the woods, it gives off an intimate feeling as you wind down the tree lined path.
SECOND Floor Wedding : Jolie & Shay : New York, NY
A Spring wedding at SECOND floor NYC
When I was going back through the images for this wedding to blog this week I thought, "man, this was a cool wedding". The venue itself is awesome with its windowed terrace that opens up fully to become a patio under the night sky. A megatron across the courtyard can be customized to display a slideshow for guests (and all other New Yorkers, for that matter) to view throughout the reception. On this particular occasion, we produced a same day slideshow during cocktail hour to feature images from the ceremony and portraits session.
If that weren't enough, decor by August Sage & Violet created a sophisticated island destination feel while still managing to maintain a slick urban atmosphere. This created an amazing ambiance that kept the party alive along with Starlight Music, clearly one of the best wedding bands in New York. There's something about Jolie & Shay together that I feel looks so good in black and white. I think you'll agree..

India House Wedding : Sarah & Ariel : New York, NY
A June wedding at India House in New York, NY.
I've known Sarah for a decade so it was especially nice to get the chance to photograph her wedding this past summer! Many of my friends from grad school were there which makes for a fun event to shoot. Dating back to the 1830's, India House is buried in a sea of skyscrapers in the Financial District of Manhattan with the ever so perfect address "1 Hanover Sq". Today a private club, it offers a number of iconic rooms which lead guests from the ground floor, up a flight for cocktails and then to the top floor ballroom for dinner. A short stroll from the waterfront, India House is ideally located near many hotels and opportunities for portraiture. I was so excited that Sarah chose Design by Ahn for her decor because they are always one my favorite florists in New York. They perfectly blend the natural, organic look that's become popular with something that is composed and classic. I'm just not someone who notices flowers on a day to day basis and Designs by Ahn is always a vendor I notice.
Green Building Wedding : Alyssa & Brett : Brooklyn, NY
A late summer Green Building wedding in Brooklyn, NY.
On the most quintessentially perfect street corner in Brooklyn, Alyssa & Brett were married in the distressed brick walled space of the Green Building featuring a ceremony and cocktail hour with friends & family in the open air courtyard. Just steps away lie a number of great backdrops which made their portrait session a piece of cake.

Foundry LIC Wedding : Jamie & Erik : Long Island City, NY
A Fall wedding at The Foundry, Long Island City in Queens, NY.
If I were to have a re-do of my own wedding, chances are it would be at The Foundry. I'll never forget the first time I shot a wedding here. I had never heard of it! This must have been 2010 or so. I show up in what at that time was the middle of absolute no where to discover something that became a phenomenon in the NYC wedding world. It was the first "cool" wedding venue. Ten years later, I still think it's one of the best.Jamie & Eric obviously poured their hearts and souls into their wedding. It took on my favorite vibe of wedding/dinner party featuring dim sum, bbq, a band playing to the beat of a bass drum with custom decor by the bride, and a ceremony officiated by a dear friend. The Foundry has so many nooks, crannies and balconies which make it literally fun to shoot in.
